I had also read that sometimes the "unlock" password is the 32 character PSID printed on the drive. So I thought I might try to revert the PSID like the reply suggested. It doesn't appear to be encrypted or I wouldn't have been able to browse it in another computer! So if it's not encrypted then why does the Lenovo BIOS require a password ( that I never setup) to unlock it?

If I try a blank or an incorrect password it gives me another message that says press Enter to try again or Esc to Shutdown. As soon as I turn it on, the screen goes from black to the image above and I cannot move past this screen. However, with the M.2 installed there is no option to enter the BIOS. When I boot from the original drive it lets me into the BIOS with no password. When I installed Windows it never asked me to enter a password. As soon as it restarted I get a screen that says UNLOCK CT500MX500SSD4.
